Sam Stein is a recording engineer, musician, composer, and producer based in Brooklyn, NY, with a degree in Sound Recording Technology (B.A.) from Ithaca College.
Sam has worked at acclaimed New York recording studios as an engineer including Reservoir, Applehead, and The Cutting Room. During this time he has been an engineer and assistant engineer on recording sessions for such acclaimed artists as Paul Simon, Florence Welch, André 3000, Mark Ronson, Yebba, and Jacob Collier, among others. Multiple projects he has worked on as an assistant engineer have been Grammy nominated.
In addition to music for commercial albums, Sam has also been the engineer and assistant engineer on recording sessions for films, tv shows, audiobooks, and broadway cast recordings. These clients include Netflix, Hulu, Penguin Random House, Theatre Camp (movie), and Lost Nation (2024).
As a musician and producer, Sam works with a variety of pop, indie rock, R&B, and folk artists. A violist from a young age, he is often being tapped to arrange and record string parts. He has also written and performed guitar, drum, keys, vocals, and percussion parts on recordings for commercial release.
